Acai Berries: The Fitness Buff’s Best Bud

Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Despite the popularity of the acai berry among health buffs, not many people know that it is a fruit that grows on acai palm trees native to the Amazon Forest. They hang like grapes from the trees and are made up of 90% seed pit and 10% acai pulp. The acai berry is not eaten like an ordinary berry. It has to be processed in such a way that its pulp is separated from its pit. It is the puree form of the acai berry pulp that is used in various products like beverages and smoothies, or sold in markets either in frozen form or in powder form.

According to food and nutrition experts, the acai berry is a great source of ingredients rich in nutrients. For example, recent research on the berry has revealed that it contains very high amounts of omega 3 fatty acids, nutrients that are known to lower the level of bad cholesterol in the body. Moreover, it has also been discovered that the acai berry is also a great source of anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory agents and anti-bacterial agents. It is also believed that it is rich in dietary fiber that aides in digestion and promotes weight loss.  Acai berry weight loss is a very safe and natural way to lose weight.

One of the more popular ways in which the acai berry is consumed is the acai berry juice.  Supermarkets everywhere now carry juices and similar products that contain ingredients from the berry. These products are often marketed as energy drinks because they are known to be capable of boosting one’s energy level and improving one’s focus and mental sharpness. The juice has also become an integral part of health-conscious individuals’ diet programs because of its special ability to detoxify and cleanse the body. And on top of all of these, the acai berry is very delicious, making it a better alternative to multivitamin pills saturating the market.

Although the health juice may be the acai berry’s most popular form, other products from the fruit include yoghurts, health bars and sorbets. But what makes the acai berry palm tree more interesting is the fact that not only its fruit is used in consumer products but the other parts as well. For example, the acai berry seeds are grounded and used in making livestock feeds, or used as an additional component of organic soil. In addition, the acai palm’s leaves are made into practical products like hats, brooms, baskets, and mats, and its tree trunks are also processed for the extraction of minerals.
